Saree colours for your skin tone

There is no colour an Indian skin tone cannot wear; there are only colours that need a little help. These notes are about what tends to look lively against each tone, and about the one thing a photo on a hanger cannot show you: the colour next to your own skin.

Light wheatish

Deep and saturated colours give contrast: bottle green, maroon, navy, royal blue, rust. Pastel pinks and creams can look flat on their own; a gold or contrast border fixes that. See how a bottle green and a maroon compare on the [sarees page](/women/sarees) with the light wheatish model.

Medium brown

Warm colours glow: mustard, orange, coral, olive, teal, brick red. Black and white both work when the fabric has a sheen. Try a mustard and a teal on the medium brown model before you decide; the two often swap places once they are on a body.

Dark

Bright and clear colours sing: fuchsia, cobalt, emerald, sunshine yellow, white, silver. Muddy browns and dull greys are the ones to test first. Metallic borders look especially good against darker skin.

What to check on the preview

On Jachega, pick your skin tone once and every saree opens on a model with that tone, so you see the colour against skin, not against a white studio wall. Add one full-length photo of yourself and you see the same saree on you. The preview shows the colour and the drape; the blouse, the fall and the fit are yours to arrange. Browse by price on the [sarees under ₹2,000](/women/sarees/1000-2000) or [₹2,000–4,000](/women/sarees/2000-4000) pages, or by brand on the [brands page](/brands).

Style notes only: what suits whom is a matter of taste, and the fit of any garment is the brand's size chart's business, not ours. Written by Jachega, 2026-10-31.
