Sangeet outfit ideas
The sangeet is the evening when you dance, sit on the floor and are photographed under coloured lights. The outfit has to move, survive three hours, and still look good in a photo taken from the side.
For women: movement first
- A flared kurta set or an anarkali with a light dupatta you can tie off when the dancing starts. Browse the [kurta sets page](/women/kurta-sets).
- A maxi dress or a co-ord set in a jewel tone if the event is more cocktail than mehfil. The [dresses page](/women/dresses) has both.
- A pre-draped or light saree only if you are used to dancing in one.
Colours under stage lights
Warm lights flatter warm colours: fuchsia, marigold, emerald, royal blue. Pastels and beige can look washed out under coloured lights; if you love them, choose one with a metallic border or sequin work that catches the light.
For men
A bright kurta in silk-look cotton with a contrast Nehru jacket, or a printed short kurta over straight pants. See [men's kurtas](/men/kurtas) and [men's jackets](/men/jackets). Keep the jacket for the photos and take it off for the dancing.
See it on you first
Add one photo of yourself on Jachega, full length or a selfie; it stays on your phone, and every outfit opens on you (a selfie puts your face on the preview). Open two colours side by side on your photo and pick the one that looks like you at night. The preview shows the look, not the fit: order by the brand's size chart.
Style notes only: what suits whom is a matter of taste, and the fit of any garment is the brand's size chart's business, not ours. Written by Jachega, 2026-11-01.
