Mehendi outfit colours
Mehendi is a daytime, sit-down, often outdoor event. It is the one wedding function where light, bright and printed beats heavy and dark.
Beyond plain green
Green is the tradition, but most photos end up a wall of the same shade. Options that still read as mehendi:
- Mustard and marigold yellow: warm, photograph well outdoors, and suit most Indian skin tones.
- Mint and pistachio: fresh in daylight; pick a print or a gota border so the colour does not look flat.
- Rani pink and coral: bright without being evening colours.
- Multicolour prints: leheriya, bandhani and block prints are made for this event.
What to wear
A cotton or chanderi kurta set with a printed dupatta is the easiest choice and the most comfortable for sitting on the floor for hours; start with the [kurta sets, ₹1,000–2,000 page](/women/kurta-sets/1000-2000) or the [₹2,000–4,000 page](/women/kurta-sets/2000-4000). A light printed saree works too: see the [sarees page](/women/sarees). Keep sleeves short or three-quarter so the henna on your hands shows.
See the colour against your own skin
The same yellow can look golden on one person and pale on another. On Jachega every outfit opens on your own photo (add one, full length or a selfie; it stays on your phone), so you see the colour against your skin before you buy. The preview shows the look, not the fit: the brand's size chart decides the size.
Style notes only: what suits whom is a matter of taste, and the fit of any garment is the brand's size chart's business, not ours. Written by Jachega, 2026-11-01.
